Bridger-Teton National Forest – Half Day Side-by-Side Tour

Side-by-Side Tour Details

National Forest Half Day Side-by-Side Tour We’ll start our day’s adventure in one of the most unique ways of seeing Jackson Hole. Experience the adrenaline rush of zipping along mountain roads without the enclosed feeling of being in a tour van.

This side-by-side tour will start in the town of Jackson and we’ll make our way to the National Elk Refuge. The refuge was created in 1912 to help protect and provide a sanctuary to the world’s largest elk herds on Earth.

Heading north along the boundary of the National Elk Refuge, we will head east towards the small town of Kelly. Keep your eyes out for moose along the river banks in this section as they are often seen here.

Slide Lake Landslide

After passing through Kelly, we will make our way into the Gros Ventre Range where the world’s largest landslide occurred in 1925 as a result of weeks of solid rain and a heavy snowpack. You can still clearly see the landslide scars even after all these years. Just beyond the landslide area, we will approach Lower Slide Lake.

On this tour, your side-by-side guide will show you three breathtaking views of the Tetons (weather permitting). Each location has a slightly different angle of the Tetons, and all make for that picture-perfect photo opportunity.

Molton Barn

On our way back to Jackson, we’ll head into Antelope Flats and then out to Mormon Row, which was established back in 1908 by John Molton and his family. These buildings illustrate a Mormon settlement in the area. It’s here you will find the most photographed barn in America. It is seen on many of the postcards Jackson has in its tourist stores.

As we travel along on this tour, keep your eyes out for wandering wildlife. Animals that can be seen on this trip include moose, elk, antelope, bison, fox and bald eagles.

Your experienced guide will also have extensive knowledge of the local history of the area and be able to answer many of the questions you may have along the way.
