This Continental Divide Snowmobile Tour is the perfect tour for visitors interested in snowmobiling Jackson, WY during the off season. (November 15 – December 21 or April 1 – April 15).
The Continental Divide is an impressive, mostly mountainous, geologic ridge that runs from the southern tip of South America north to the United States, through New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana all the way to the Arctic Ocean. Known as the Great Divide or “America’s Backbone,” it crosses directly through Wyoming starting from the top northwest corner of the state and cuts through the southern portion of Yellowstone National Park. Snowmobiling Jackson Hole on the Continental Divide is an experience of a lifetime.
The Great Divide is recognized in this region because it has the most remote, rugged and wild mountain country in the lower 48 states. Waters east of the divide eventually flow to the Atlantic Ocean, and waters west drain into the Pacific Ocean. The sections of the Continental Divide in Wyoming and Colorado are by far the most interesting because of the long line of alpine peaks with high elevations.
Visitors start the Continental Divide snowmobile tour at Togwotee Pass which is in the Absaroka Mountains, about 45 minutes from Jackson, WY. The pinnacles and plateau-like summits of the Absaroka Range are truly amazing and oftentimes are compared to the high elevation peaks of the Teton Range and the Wind River Range.
