Taking a guided trail ride in Jackson Hole offers a true western experience and spectacular views. Our two-hour ride extends the perfect opportunity to the beginner and experienced rider alike, offering a longer ride with more time on top of the horse. The trail leads you up atop the East Gros Ventre Butte, also known as Saddle Butte, giving unique views of the Teton Range and the town of Jackson. The butte is an access strip into and out of the Town of Jackson, adjacent to the National Elk Refuge and considered a sensitive wildlife area for mule deer and sage grouse. During your ride, you’ll learn about horsemanship (getting on and off your horse, various gaits, posture for horse riding comfort, steering, and horse safety). If you’re already comfortable on a horse, then you’re all set. In addition to horse care, your experienced guide will gladly answer any questions you may have about the surrounding area, by pointing out geologic formations, and other areas of interest. From up on the butte, you’ll be able to look down on the Elk Refuge, the Snake River, and the Gros Ventre Range, in addition to the aforementioned Teton Range and town of Jackson.
As you head up the butte, you will ride through meadows, forests and open landscapes. Each environment presents different views and wildlife viewing opportunities. Many people travel to Jackson Hole to enjoy the incredible natural beauty of our mountains, rivers and lakes. They also travel here to view animals who are indigenous to Wyoming, as they roam in their native habitat. Experiencing the vistas and the wildlife all while riding a horse makes for a lifelong lasting memory.
For the longer two hour ride, you’ll have the opportunity to travel a little further away from the ranch, and see more of the majestic valley. After taking one of our tours, many visitors yearn for more horse time, and seek out even longer trips. There are many outfitters and options in the valley for horseback riding, but safety is paramount to us, and we believe our reputation sets us above the rest. In addition to safety, one defining reason our clients choose us is because of our location, and the views we can offer. Most outfitters will take their clients into the forests or up against the mountain range, which limits the views.
